already this April. Our Elk grove appliance repair technicians recommend

wave. When your air conditioner sits idle during the summer months, leaves,
dust, and other debris settle into your A/C, maintaining a clear pathway
for your A/C to run is an important responsibility of maintaining home
Clean and Clear Debris – During the winter months, leaves, dust, pine cones and other elements
have likely accumulated onto your unit. Using a vacuum or rag, clean the
blower fan blades, tighten any loose mounting bold and mop up and excess
water that may have settled in the unit. Lastly, remove any plant overgrowth
from the area of the unit.
Clean or Replace Filters –Your air filters should be cleaned and replaced at least twice
a year. Over the course of the years, your air filters with gather dust
and debris, over time air flow could become restricted. If airflow is
restricted, your air conditioning unit may have to work harder to cool
your home, stressing the motor. The air filter is located either:
- Behind the return air grille on a wall in the center of the house
- Inside the blower compartment of the air handler or furnace
- In a slot on the bottom of the furnace
Check Condenser Unit Fan –turn off the power to your unit and examine the condenser fan to
make sure it is still in working condition. If any of the blades are cracked
or chipped you may want to replace the blades.
Verify the thermostat is working – Check your thermostat and verify it is keeping your home at the
temperature it’s indicating. If your home uses an older mechanical
thermostat, you may want to consider upgrading to a new programmable model
as it allows you to program your A/C to come on at certain times during
the day. One of our reputable service technicians can happily assist you
with this process.
Check Wiring Components – First, turn off the power to the unit. Next, remove the access
panel on the condensing unit and see if there are any signs of melting,
charring, or corrosion. If you see any of the above problems, contact
